“Fragments” refer to the pictures being seen as Artifacts rather strictly painting. They contain material on both sides, fitting in a narrative exclusive to that painting. Formally, they typically share similar or internally contrasting palettes. The narratives on each side of the painting are meant to play off of each other, both in terms of story line and subject.
